the quiet gift
Film by Fluxhaus
I had the privilege of drinking my Papi’s very last bottle of cider with him in October 2024, in the kitchen that holds so many childhood memories.
The images I made during this very familiar moment were quiet acts of observation, with the intention of bottling up and preserving an intimate family moment.
This work explores memory, familial resilience, and ritual through still life and portraiture, focusing on the apple as both a symbol and a subject, where hands, fruit, and vessels become containers of time. The work includes digital as well as film photographs, and different framing and printing techniques.
This work is a love letter to my grandparents and to the gift of seeking simple joy in everyday moments no matter what life throws our way, that they so generously passed down to us.
